Dec 05, 2017 The full schedule of events and structures for the 2018 Irish Poker Open became available this week with the the Main Event promising a massive €1,000,000 guarantee for the same low buy-in as in past years of €1,150. The poker calendar is nearing 2018 and a bunch of great events are dotting the first quarter of the new year. The winter months are harsh in most places across the U.S. and the escape to a fun destination appeals to those looking to fly away for a poker holiday. There are plenty of festivals doubling as vacation destinations and below is a list of the top-five poker vacations for the next three months.5. World Series of Poker International Circuit Marrakech
Africa remains a relatively untouched territory on the poker circuit. The WSOP and World Poker Tour have established respective footholds on opposite sides of the continent. The WPT plants its flag in Johannesburg and the WSOP shares turf in Morocco, where the beautiful city of Marrakech resides.
The WSOP Circuit series runs from January 19-28 with a €1,350 buy-in Main Event in play from Thursday, January 25 through Sunday, the 28th. The main event has two Day 1 flights giving players the option to explore the surrounding area of the Casino de Marrakech.
Weather will be in the mid-60s come late-January and the sun will be shining as history and poker collide in North Africa. Consider this a vacation that’ll provide you with culture and hopefully some cash.
4. 2018 Irish Open
Ireland is a must-see any time of the year and early spring is no different. The Isle by the Sea plays host to the Irish Open from March 12-25 at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin. Events of all buy-in ranges are on the schedule with a €1,275 Main Event serving as the highlight of the former European Poker Tour stronghold.
When not at the tables, Dublin is filled with fun activities for tourists of all interests. Whether it’s traveling to the Cliffs of Moher for a day trip or buckling down in a pub for a night of live music, Dublin offers something for its visitors.
Citywest last hosted an event in September when the Winamax Poker Open came to town. Over 1,000 entrants registered for the main event and more are sure to join the action next March.
3. WPTDeepStacks Argentina
The World Poker Tour and its accompanying WPTDeepStacks tour travel far and wide for events in all parts of the globe. WPTDeepStacks went to Uruguay in November and is following down that familiar path by taking a trip to Argentina in March.
The WPTDeepStacks Main Event features a $1,500 buy-in that starts on Wednesday, March 14 and wraps up later in the week on the 19th. The tournament takes place inside Casino Iguazú, which is near the famed Iguazú waterfalls. Why chase rivers when you can chase…okay, sorry, we had to.
Summer will be turning into fall on that side of the equator, making for a great time to hop on a plane and see what Argentina has to offer while it’s snowing in many parts of the U.S.
2. PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Bahamas
Few events in poker history have had the renowned success of the PCA. As soon as online poker fully lifted off, PCA became the “must” destination to kick-off the year. After some ups and downs the last few years along with some branding issues, PCA is back with a $10,300 Main Event.
The series itself runs from January 6-14. Among the events on the schedule include The PokerStars National Championship, $25,000 High Roller, and $100,000 Super High Roller.
The Main Event itself starts on the second of the festival on Monday, January 8 and will wrap up on the last day.
Oh, yeah. The series does take place in the Bahamas. One of the best places to vacation in the world is the ultimate destination anyone looking to escape the winter blues.
Even though qualification options are basically nil on PokerStars NJ, this is still a premier poker destination for any poker player.
1. Aussie Millions
Perhaps the best mix of mid stakes and high roller events of the entire year, Aussie Millions is back once again in 2018. The series has been in operation since 1998 and continues to grow with each year. Aussie Millions is never afraid to innovate and will bring back Jason Somerville to stream the Main Event on Twitch.

Somerville handled commentary duties during previous Aussie Millions series and is back to give his expert analysis during the main event. The series runs for almost three weeks starting on Wednesday, January 17 all the way to Monday, February 5.
When not at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, there is a full assortment of ways to enjoy the Australian summer. The Australian Open tennis championships will be in play, for starters, along with the many animal sanctuaries in the city. Aussie Millions is number one on this list for a reason and should provide another great series once 2018 kicks off.
Irish Open Poker 2019
Sure the flight is long, but the great weather, awesome poker, and incredibly warm welcome you’ll get from the people of Australia makes this a vacation you’ll be glad you booked.
